Walker Wood Case Study: Our Cow Molly

Client: Our Cow Molly

Location: The Peak District

Section: Agricultural

Walker Wood Services: Architectural Building Design Town Planning Contract Administration Project Management

Building: Two-storey dairy with educational facility

Brief: Walker Wood was approached by Dan and Eddie Andrews of Cliffe House Farm, the home of Sheffield’s Our Cow Molly Ice Cream. The brief was to design and obtain the necessary planning permission for the development of a new diary and educational facility.

Project Summary

Walker Wood designed the dairy and first floor educational facility and obtained Prior Approval under Permitted Development Rights for town planning purposes. The project required detailed consideration of the implications arising from the location of the dairy, as it is situated within the Green Belt and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The aim was to balance the needs of the rural economy with the natural landscape. Walker Wood assisted in achieving this aim by working closely with Our Cow Molly and with the local planning authority. Once the design and planning were agreed, Walker Wood carried out the Contract Administration and Project Management in relation to the dairy - all within strict timescales.
